What is confidence?
Whenever someone says the word 'confident' the first image that pops into our heads is of a person, dressed in a suit or full formal clothes, addressing a crowd and delivering a mind-blowing speech.
Most people have a singular way of looking at confidence. But confidence is so much more than just speaking and dressing well. It has many facets and forms. To become confident, one needs to look at confidence from a different perspective, and we are here to help you with that.
Confidence Begins With Self Security

Have you ever heard the term 'secure within yourself'?
Yes, confidence begins with inner security. A lot of people are often confused about what it means.
Do you seek validation from others?
Are you unsure about the decisions you make?
Do tough situations break your will to live?
Do you struggle to manage/balance your emotions?
Are you easily offended by criticism?
If you answered 'Yes' to any of the questions above, then it's a sign to work on your inner foundations.
The foundations of confidence are based on having strong values for oneself. Having an unshakable character is a great way to go about it. And this begins with setting personal values.
The Importance Of Personal Values

Do you have personal values that you've set for yourself? If not, here's why you should consider starting, especially if you're new to the professional world or looking to pursue higher education abroad.
Personal values keep your integrity intact
They shape the way you look and behave in the world
They build personality and strengthen character
They enhance your charisma and inspire people
Help create stronger bonds in relationships
Improve confidence and resilience
Inculcate a greater sense of purpose
There are many more benefits and the list is endless. However, the above benefits are what we want to focus on for personality development.
If you don't have any personal values, here's a quick exercise:
On a piece of paper, think about the person you admire the most. It could be family, a friend, a historical figure or even a fictional character—the person you'd like to become like.
Analyse that person's nature, beliefs, goals and characteristics. Note down their values and make a list of the ones you like.
Simultaneously, analyse yourself and list down the values you think you have. Now comparing both the lists, jot down the values you have and the ones you want to have.
Once you have the list, it's now time to understand and act on them.
The Role Of Self Love In Confidence

We often mistake self-love for skincare or pampering ourselves. When in reality, it is the opposite of self-care.
Self-love isn't just about spoiling ourselves, it's about preparing ourselves for life. To learn, reflect and inculcate habits that help us become a better version of ourselves. When situations get tough, then a little pampering is great, but it's more important to take time out, sit with our soul and think back to reflect on what needs to be changed. Do we change situations or should we learn to adapt?
Some of the best things you can do for self-love:
Eating healthy and working out
Setting healthy boundaries at work or with people
Becoming self-reliant and non-dependent on others
Re-parenting self with love
Talking to yourself with love and compassion
Balancing every aspect of your life in a way you can handle
Resting your mind whenever you are stressed
